Her Experience Working with ZEBRA
Elisabeth Clay had her first experience on ZEBRA Mats while in competition. “My first experience was with IBJJF Pan Ams. If you’ve ever trained on Puzzle Mats, which I was used to training on, they are very different. Puzzle Mats are very sticky...My very first time competing was on ZEBRA Mats and after that I realized I need to be training somewhere that I’m going to have the same mat that I’m competing on.” Elisabeth uses the 1.5 Smooth ZEBRA Mats in her home gym. She also recommends the ZEBRA Mat Cleaner, as they gyms that have those are the cleanest mats she’s ever seen. “They last. The warranty on them is good, but also just, for me as an athlete, training on what you compete on is important. These are at all the IBJJF tournaments.” What does she love most about ZEBRA Mats? “I get the least mats burns. I hate mat burns.”

Her Approach to BJJ
Before achieving her black belt in BJJ under the guidance of Osvaldo Moizinho, Elisabeth grew up in a family of gymnasts. All her older siblings were elite gymnasts, and she needed a sport to do. She chose jiu jitsu, got addicted to it, and the rest has been history for her very long and decorated career. Elisabeth Clay’s approach doesn’t differ much from the norm, but it’s backed by intensive hard work. She tries to go in and get as many rounds as she can. She believes training with the best is going to make her the best athlete possible. See Elisabeth’s entire biography and learn more about her here. ZEBRA Mats are Ideal for BJJ Training
